INGREDIENTS:

1 chicken – cut to large pics
2 1/2 cups basmati rice – wash and soak for 15 mins
2 tsp red chilli pd
1/2 tsp turmeric pd
1 1/2 tsp garam masala pd
3 onions – sliced
4 tomatoes – chopped
2+1 tsp ginger/garlic paste
1 cup curd
2 bay leaves
4 cloves
2″ cinnamon stick
4 green cardamoms
ghee as req
salt as req
oil as req
few lemon wedges
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

METHOD:

Heat ghee and oil (equal quantity) in a thick bottomed vessel
Add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves and let them sizzle abit
Now add onions and sprinkle a little salt and fry till they start to brown
Add tomatoes and fry till oil base
Put in chilli pd and turmeric pad and fry till you get a rich colour
Add chicken, salt, garam masala pd, curd and 2 tsp ginger/garlic paste
Mix well and cook for about 10 mins

In another vessel, take the soaked rice.
Pour in 4 cups of water.
Add salt and 1 tsp ginger/garlic paste and bring to a boil
Reduce flame and cook till 3/4th done

Now add rice to chicken and mix well.
Take half cup of chopped coriander leaves and sprinkle over rice
Pour a tsp of ghee over rice
Close lid tight and place this vessel on a tawa
Cook on very low flame for abt 20 mins

Serve hot with raita and papad, with lemon wedges on the side
